JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a health and nutrition assistant to provide technical assistance and support program design, planning, implementation, monitoring evaluation and administration of program activities, including data analysis, progress reporting, knowledge networking and capacity building in support of the achievement of planned objectives of the work plan, aligned with health and nutrition program goals
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support and supervise the CMAM activities at HF and mobile teams’ levels and at the nutrition services sites.
  • Ensure health and nutrition facilities and community outreach activities are carried out as per facility work plans with an emphasis on integration with medical services.
  • Delivery of supplies to the targeted health facilities from the NGOs warehouses.
  • Conduct Mass integrated campaign, training, supervision, reporting.
  • Implement assigned Health and nutrition activities in line with international standards and best practices.
  • Plan, implement and monitor day-to-day Health and nutrition activities as part of MedGlobal Program Team.
  • Ensure that the nutrition projects are implemented according to national CMAM guidelines, and program objectives.
  • Ensure malnutrition case screening and growth monitoring are carried out and appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
  • Support the Health and Nutrition Officer in offering technical support to facility staff and community-based teams on the management of acute malnutrition
  • Ensure all beneficiaries (U5 and PLW) in the CMAM program receive care and treatment in accordance with MoH Guidelines, including the proper taking of anthropometric measurements and proper referral and receive food/treatment according to the agreed protocol
  • Capacity building and training of CNVs, CHVs:
  • Identify needs, plan and organize capacity building training for health and nutrition staff On IMCI/EPI/EMOC, CMAM, IYCF and GBV
  • Maintain a database/report of the trained and active health workers, CNWs, and Community health Volunteers in the community.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation and Quality assurance:
  • Technical monitoring on PHC and MTs at Locality (PHC, IMCI, EPI, Nutrition, and MNH).
  • Ensure proper management of supplies, monitor and report on the stock levels and gap
  • Facilitate and organize referral of sick children to the stabilization center and ensure effective follow-up of these children.
  • Organize, supervise monthly, quarterly and ad hoc meetings at locality level with health and nutrition workers and Support review meeting for the CHNVs/CHWs/CMWs.
  • Recording and Reporting
  • Follow and ensure proper registration and admission/discharge of CMAM patients including ongoing monitoring of patients.
  • Coordinate regular community screening of children under five, Pregnant and Lactating Women with Nutrition Assistants, CNVs, and Midwives, as well as ensure recording and reporting of community mobilization and nutrition mass screening activities,
  • Prepare weekly activity reports and contribute to performance reports to the Health and Nutrition officer.
  • Ensure regular meetings with the health and nutrition and community health workers.
  • Document and share successful stories, case studies, and lessons learned.
  • Work closely with health and nutrition officer/MEAL Officers to ensure quality data reports.
  • Perform other tasks as may be assigned by Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS :
  • BSc. Degree of Nutrition, Public Health, or related science from recognized institutions is required,
  • Experience of 2 years professional experience with NGO in implementing humanitarian health and nutrition programs.
  • Proven experience in emergency nutrition settings, BCC, PHC and others like CMAM (SC, OTP, SFP and GM), IYCF, MtMSG,  FBPMAM,  and epidemic/outbreak investigation and response
